Pumpkins!!!

As a special treat for my coworkers, I designed and painted 16 small pumpkins (one for each person). Each one had a note and was hidden in each co-workers office space.

Hummingbird Oil Painting

About a month ago, one of my coworkers quit to open a frozen yogurt shop.  He had worked next to me for 2 years and I really missed him leaving.  So to send him off on his new adventure properly, I painted this small oil painting for him.  I have had my fill of framing drama so this is also my first wrap around canvas painting...and I must say I love not having to frame.

Figure Drawing now @ Taylor's Mill

Figure drawing has returned at a new venue and I am happy to get back to drawing people from life.  It's both challenging and really relaxing.  I highly recommend it to anyone serious about drawing the human form.

Experimental Oil Painting for Flat Out Under Pressure

These were some small experimental oil on paper that I did while on vacation as a warm up to "Flat out Under Pressure" (Greenville's 24 hr. traditional art making competition).  These were very spontaneous without any prep work.  I began by throwing color on the page and letting the image evolve from there.  You can see what I ended up with for the competition and the rest of the work by clicking HERE.  I really don't know if I will do any more of these in the future or not.

Coral Captive

I have really enjoyed working on this digital painting of a mermaid and a sea monster...that is whenever I had the chance to work on it.  It's been in the works a long time. It was challenging from the moment the concept was born.  If you look back in the blog you can even find that it was once upon a time in the abandoned work pile due to serious composition problems.  These problems were solved with the use of my trusty sketchbook(....yay sketchbooks!).

Chaser- Border Collie of a thousand Words

This is a portrait of "Chaser" the dog that knows over a thousand words.  I just read a book about her written by Dr. Pilley.  It was excellent and inspiring.  I just sent Dr. Pilley a print of this and I hope he will enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed reading his book and creating this portrait.

New Cintiq equals new sketching

I have a Cintiq (24 hd) now and in jubilation of that I created this sketch.  I'm still getting use to some of the controls/buttons, but I am loving the overhanging the desk feature.  It's a really comfortable way to work.
